UFM-50 Ultrasonic clamp-on flowmeter (Doppler)

For “problem liquids”
The UFM-50 is ideal for contaminated or aerated liquids containing more than 10 % solids or air bubbles, as a result of which other types of flowmeters are quickly damaged. This ultrasonic Doppler flowmeter is recommended for full pipes and any fluid that contains solids or bubbles, like wastewater, chemicals, acids, slurries, abrasives and viscous liquids.
Because the sensor of the UFM-50 is mounted on the exterior of the pipe or tube, it can not be affected by the medium inside. This means no maintenance, no contamination of the sensor, no obstruction to the free flow of the liquid, no pressure loss, no corrosion and no pipes that need to be opened for the installation of measuring equipment. You can mount the display housing in a convenient location nearby the installation itself.

Principle of operation

Special Features

  • measuring without opening pipes or tubes (non-invasive)
  • relatively low purchase costs
  • easy to install
  • robust sensor, waterproof case
  • suitable for almost all pipe material
  • simple menu structure
  • bi-directional
  • excellent signal processing for reliable accuracy
  • optional : datalogger with USB thumb drive-support

Applications

Recommended for liquids containing suspended solids or bubbles minimum size of 100 microns, minimum concentration 75 ppm. Sensor mounts on vertical or horizontal pipes.
For example: wastewater, chemicals, acids, slurries, abrasives and viscous liquids..
Suitable is any tube material that conducts ultrasonic sound waves such as PVC, (carbon and stainless) steel, cast iron, fiber glass and lined pipes with liner bonded to pipe wall.
Avoid pipes with loose insertion liners and pipe walls which contain air (concrete, wood etc.)
Sensor mounting on the outside of a tube or pipe (diameter ≥ 12.7 mm), placed both horizontally and vertically.
Location : 6-10 pipe diameters from elbows, tees (turbulence increasing devices) and >30 pipe diameters from pumps, controlling valves and pipe discharge.
